The clients came to us with a clear vision: a serene family home that could breathe. Despite the generous square footage of their Upper West Side apartment, previous renovations had left the space feeling cluttered and directionless. They wanted warmth without excess — an interior drawn from nature that would grow quieter and more beautiful the longer you lived in it. Our brief centred on natural materials, an earthy tonal palette, and a deep respect for light and proportion.
Execution demanded discipline at every turn. We introduced continuous limestone flooring that runs unbroken from the entrance through to the kitchen, collapsing the sense of separate rooms into one generous, flowing whole. Built-in joinery in oiled white oak provides storage without visual weight, while a curated edit of furniture — each piece chosen for its maker, its materiality, and its silence — brings the space to life without ever demanding attention. The result is a home that feels both deeply refined and entirely liveable, a rare balance that defines the best of contemporary residential design.
