Our clients in Tribeca host beautifully and frequently — dinners for twelve, lunches for four, celebrations that stretch late into the evening. They needed a formal dining and entertaining space that could accommodate the full range of these occasions without ever feeling stiff or underused. The challenge was to create a room that could expand and contract in atmosphere with the mood of the gathering: hushed and intimate for a working dinner, luminous and festive for a celebration. We began by establishing the room's governing object — a bespoke dining table in bleached walnut, twelve feet long and jointed in sections so it could be reconfigured, around which everything else was arranged with careful deference.
The custom lighting rig overhead is the room's defining architectural feature — a composition of hand-blown glass pendants arranged at varying heights, dimmable in zones so that the table can be bathed in warmth while the perimeter recedes into shadow. At the far end of the room, a drinks and bar station anchors the space with a solidity that balances the table: smoked mirror panels, fluted glass shelving, and a marble top that doubles as a preparation surface during service. The entire room operates on the principle that great entertaining spaces should feel simultaneously designed and inevitable — as though they could not have been any other way.
